What is Delay Calculator?

Delay in ms equals 60,000 divided by BPM times the note ratio. Quarter is 1, eighth is 0.5, dotted multiplies by 1.5 and triplet by two thirds.

Hz is 1,000 divided by ms. Samples are seconds times your sample rate. At 44.1 kHz a 500 ms quarter at 120 BPM is 22,050 samples.

How do I convert BPM to milliseconds?
Divide 60,000 by BPM for quarter notes. At 120 BPM that is 500 ms, at 128 techno it is 469 ms. Eighth is half, sixteenth a quarter, dotted multiplies by 1.5 and triplet by two thirds. The table computes all six note values instantly so you paste instead of doing mental math mid-session.
What are samples and Hz used for?
Hardware processors and low-level DSP need integer sample counts: seconds times 44,100 or 48,000. At 44.1 kHz a 500 ms quarter at 120 BPM is exactly 22,050 samples. Hz is 1,000 divided by ms and drives tempo-synced LFO, tremolo, filter and auto-pan rates that cannot take ms values.

What is dotted eighth vs triplet delay?
Dotted eighth is three quarters of a quarter note (375 ms at 120 BPM) and creates the classic ping-pong rhythmic cascade. Triplet eighth is one third of a quarter (167 ms at 120) for shuffle grooves. Straight sits on the grid, dotted pushes, triplet pulls.
Should I pick 44.1 or 48 kHz?
Match your project: 44.1 kHz for music releases and CD, 48 kHz for video and broadcast. Sample counts differ by about 9 percent, so pasting the wrong rate drifts hardware timing. Switch the toggle before copying for DSP and outboard gear.
